Symphonic Journey
I really enjoyed listening to the keynote speaker at the Inspired Learning inset day.
Sue Palmer is a writer and presenter known for her books Toxic Childhood and 21st Century Boys. She has written over 250 books, educational TV programmes and literacy software packages.
Her stories are very memorable and she talked a lot of sense. Her workshop on how modern life can can drive boys off the rails and her keynote speech 21st Century Children: The changing Nature of Play.
No surprise that I felt compelled to purchase two of her books that I hope to read during Half Term break.
After the inset day, I was all set to help Claire build her igloo with the little bit of snow we had in our back garden. However, but the time I got home, the snow had all but disappeared. Hard Luck Claire.
We kicked off Half Term hols in style with a concert by Wells Cathedral School. It was a lovely concert and Claire really enjoyed the first piece music; The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas. She was a little bit more fidgety during the Saint-Saens Violin Concerto, but did really well there too.
During the interval she took herself off for a wander around the Cathedral and stretch of her legs.
The final piece was a bit too much sitting quietly for her though and I ended up handing her a book to read during the Sibelius.
All said and done, she was really well focused and well behaved for her first concert and she said that she'd even entertain attending another one soon.
This is a quick snap of the double basses that I took at interval.
It's not really the done thing to take photos at a concert, however I am a rebel.........
without a clue.
