AT THE BEACH

it was really cold, but sunny. Reassuring as that sounds we still walked bitterly cold on the frozen sand of the shore. The last three days Piet Hein had seen the seal. Mischa said that if she would come today looking for her she certainly will not be there. I had no opinion on that matter. Anyway the three of us set off to the sea.
But no, the seal did not apprear. There were however gulls to see, cormorants, and nice black ducks that kept diving under water but I forget to look at them through the binoculars to have a more clear view of them. And in the sea the lonely swan was swimming, coming towards us, for food perhaps, that we did not bring. The little sanderlings that in summer run away as soon a person comes near, now did not care about us coming in her vicinity. I also saw a big sanderling with her long beck eating little things. The little one finily is to be seen in the picture.
The Zandmotor takes more and more strange shapes and many think that this was not foreseen in the concept.

My haiku:

My fingers frozen
Keep my spirit sky high
Or blue as water

And the spanish proverb:

With merry company the dreary way is endured.

The Turkish proverb tells:

No road is long with good company.
