Molting Male Northern Shoveler Duck
The rain gave way to a fairly nice day....supposed to be into the 50's, and that feels very springlike. The backyard pond was active today, with a male moulting drake Northern Shoveler visiting. He was so beautiful...maybe it was the light and the way it played with the reflections, but I was able to get fairly close and get some interesting shots. I love these ducks....their bill is so different and when they are positioned just right, they look more BILL than duck :) I really liked the one of him quacking!! (he was probably scolding me for getting too close).
