There has been a shift in the way that I perceive the oldest and youngest members of our family - it happened today.

It hurts to observe that my mother is becoming elderly and vulnerable - I will never again take her strengths for granted.

Catching a glimpse of my 'laat lammetjie' Hamish, completing his pull ups this evening was quite a revelation. I have noticed him growing taller and his voice getting deeper, but when did this happen?!



Laat lammetjie (late lamb) is an Afrikaans expression used to describe a baby born years after it's siblings.
