Gotta get dirty to get clean

Oh, poor Sas. She needed a flea bath (natural and organic, of course) today so we doused her. Afterwards she immediately bolted for the dirt and jammed her face into it in a valiant effort to get the stuff off of her. She did this for about 15 minutes before she tuckered herself out.

Lots of animal wrangling today. The ducks seem to have a beef with the hens and the rooster has a beef with the ducks messing with his ladies, so I'm constantly having to separate them. One of the ducks really has a problem with mama chicken and her chicks, so I had to keep careful watch of her while we built her a little coop. Then we had to grab hold of mama, which was...very exciting. And after that we had to nab all 7 chicks, who were hysterical to be separated from mom.

What a day. Very happy that mama and all chicks are safely enclosed and protected from mongooses and cats, and that Sas is nice and flealess.
