~Wildflowers~
~Brittlebush~
~Encelia farinosa~
It is also called incienso,
because a chrystaline resin forms
on its dried stems and leaves.
And when burned the smoke
give off a very pungent fragerence.
It was used by early Spanish missionaries
as an incense in religious ceremonies.
They literally cover the area
around river flood plains,
because they thrive in either
sandy or gravelly soils.
It flowers continuously
from March to November.
This flower really adds
a lot of color to otherwise
drab and dry river courses.
Thanks for coming by and looking.
