Knackered - left school at 5.45, then continued on to another meeting for 45 minutes.

Frantic day, with the niggling worry at the back of my mind (and many other colleagues) that yet another disaster was going to befall our contingent of students and staff who started their journey to Omsk, Siberia today. It has been one thing after another in the last week, with one passport failing to arrive, then having to be driven to London and delivered on Monday night for the visa application to be processed; the ten outbound flights had to be rescheduled in order to ensure that the visa could be collected today; then one of the staff's photos being 'not right' - phone call to school yesterday morning - meant he had to drive to London (because they insisted) and then when he got there he was told that he could have faxed the photo through!!! Even today when they left, we weren't 100% sure that they would be able to go, because the trip was dependent upon the two visas being processed by 4pm today for collection from the Embassy in London before they all headed off to Heathrow.

When i hadn't received a text by 5.45 I was really starting to panic. However, shortly afterwards, I got the message I wanted - All sorted, we are at Heathrow and we are ready to go. Phew.

So they should be taking off in 40 minutes...10.30pm. A trip of a lifetime for 8 of our students, out to Siberia, to experience the extreme cold and to continue their collaboration with students from our two partner schools which these particular students started in November. Our collaboration as a school has been ongoing for over 5 years...I hope it continues.

When I got home, James and I wrapped up warm following notification from Fisherking that the moon in the east was BIG and orange. Thanks Kieran :-)

Am now off to burn some photos to a disk and then to email some others over to New Zealand - ( shots of Frenchee, the hoop performer for publication with credits in a New Zealand newspaper....!).
