Snow Buntings

Had a great day. It was cold but calm, sunny and clear, couldn't be better for a day's birdwatching at Musselburgh.

We met in car park and walked towards the river estuary where there were lots of birds as it was low tide. Later we walked into the town itself to see a Tundra Bean Goose, which was reported to be in the area, but it must have gone as we didn't see it. We then walked back along the sea wall with a side walk to the hide overlooking the lagoon and back to cars.

List of what we saw - heron, dunnock, robin, twite, common black-headed and herring gulls, curlew, bar-tailed godwit, oyster catchers, greylag geese, widgeon, mallard, teal, goldeneye, turnstone, knot, eider, dunlin, little grebe, jackdaw, pink footed geese, canada geese, goosander, grey plover, snow bunting, rock pipit, velvet scooter, linnets, long tailed ducks (displaying) slavonian grebe, pied wagtail.
