So this is what is on the other side of the fence!

A Trumpeter swan visited the field in front of our house today. On the far side behind the trees is a green space with a river and small pond where a number of trumpeter swans live. Harry Lumsden lives on the other side , and his property has the pond where the swans live. He has been helping reestablish these swans back into Ontario. They disappeared in the 1880's and there are now over 1000. This swan today was honking back to one of the swans on the other side of the fence, whether it was a younger one testing it's wings or a new one to the area , I don't know.He was enjoying a stroll around the school yard for about a half an hour. He had been tagged, the yellow badge on his wing can be seen, just could not make out the number. Here in Ontario we have three different types of swans ,Trumpeter, Tundra and Mute.
