The Kiltwalk

"No Daddy, I don't want to go Kiltwalk Traini

"You can't make me Dad, you can't make me . . . I'll do the Wee Kiltwalk, but please, not the training, it's freezing"

Meet Stevie Malcher and his kids Adam and Emma. Stevie has been a Kiltwalk supporter for a number of years but it was only last year that he took part and still has the sunburn on his head to prove it.

Last year was tougher than he thought, so this year he plans to put a few training miles in between now and the 8th April, or "Kiltwalk Day", as it's known round these parts. However he's managed to rope the entire family into the Kiltwalk this year as his wife, Anne and the kids, have agreed to walk the Wee Kiltwalk, which is six miles round Loch Lomond Shores on the same day as the Kiltwalk.

It's taken a bit of persuading, however the kids were won over when Stevie told them that in addition to the ice cream, face painting and fun bag, there's also an Easter Egg hunt for the little ones. He's also promised "sun worshipper Anne" the same weather as last year, so we all hope he delivers on that promise.

So we asked Stevie "what's your goal this year?, is it to beat the £2,500 you and your pals raised last year? or perhaps "beat the 8.5 hours it took you?" and those of us who know him weren't surprised when as quick as a flash he said "no, it's to make the post Kiltwalk Party". You see much to his shame last year, he along with three of the four who he walked it with "collapsed" at the end due to heat exhaustion and instead of partying with the rest of them as was planned, he had to phone Anne to come and get him.

Well at least this year Anne won't have as far to travel if he doesn't make it to the party as she'll only be a few yards away, resting in the sunshine with her feet up after finishing the "Wee Walk".
