this mural adorns the wall inside the Eau Claire YMCA here in Calgary. It is in fact sculpted on to the brick. you can see the YMC icon in the bottom right hand corner

I think it denotes many of the wholesome activities in which one can participate on joining.

strangely I have not seen any horses here
