Do you know who I am?
15 seconds in (extensive use of the "F" word - sorry)
I was 'counselling' a student this afternoon, over his lack of manners towards his form tutor, and to me when he felt it was OK to throw his two-penneth-worth into a situation. I hoiked him out of the queue he was in and said
"Do you know who I am?"
In my head, I then heard pretty much the rest of the sketch on the link above, but had to maintain my self control whilst I completed my telling off...I was desperate to laugh...really.
I shall henceforth be known as Baron Von Vaderham.
Please note that I am not prone to egotistical outbursts beginning with the phrase "Do you know who I am?" Partly because I am not THAT important. However, most of my timetable and contact with students revolves around the more senior students and the Year 7's tend not to know who I am...and yes, occasionally, the ability to pull rank does actually quash a situation before it arises. Much like a week ago when I escorted a student to my office door and asked them to read the job title on the door before they went in. A contrite student, very quickly, without me having to raise my voice!
This particular sketch always makes me laugh. Sadly, it is so much a part of my psyche that I seem to recall it on an almost daily basis at school - particularly on days where I am on lunch duty...in conversations with children about the concept of queuing; listening to their frequent complaints about wet trays....I wish someone was there to share the joke with me every Tuesday.
If any of my colleagues wishes to pop down to the lunch queue on second sitting and allow me to tell them to take a tray...........
Good to be back in work today. I know I am not 100%, but 75% is better than I was last week and I hate being off - despite the demoralising effects of continuing external commentary, ultimately, I (like my colleagues) love my job because the important bit is the students. So I much prefer being there, than not. Gave up working at 10pm...could do another couple of hours, but there is no point in running myself into the ground again...there's always tomorrow.
