Don't Think

What an experience. Never been to a (not) gig in a cinema before.

Fantastic sound (of course), brilliant visuals and light show, and the accompanying wine (mentioned yesterday) wasn't too shabby either. Following, I will try to give you an impression of the occasion.

Great atmosphere in the house too, although there were a couple of moments when it felt like it was about to turn - but no fear, it was all good. As the show starts the audience on film is cheering, and so the in house audience follows - its not the usual for the cinema, but then this isn't your average film. Before long folk are up and dancing in the aisles, it's all adding to the atmosphere and it's great.

The music is cranking up and suddenly the aisles are not enough - the stage is where it's at. To be fair, it all fits in rather well with the crowd on screen and the crowd in house extending out from the screen - 3D at it's best perhaps. The whole thing is really fun, we've all enjoyed a beer (or a few) during the film, but myself and L are clearly well behind on the folk gulping from wine and whisky bottles - not to mention the folk paying far too many visits to the toilet...

There were definite occasions where the in house dancers waned, leaving some of the seated audience more than a little unsure as to why they (the now non-dancers) remained stood up there, not dancing, just looking a bit lost. The edgyness passed, and the whole thing sparked up positive again. I'd never seen anyone drunkenly fall over in a cinema before (while still enjoying the film), but now I've seen multiple. And well done the good people of the Cameo for letting us all just get on with it and enjoy the show. There certainly were some moments where I feared for the safety of the screen itself, but it was all ok in the end.

My final observation was the two girls sat right in front of L and I. Most likely tagging along rather than being fans of the Chemical
Brothers themselves, they talked throughout the first half hour or so, before bowing to peer pressure and raising up to sway awkwardly to music they clearly weren't familiar with (and, by my reckoning, weren't interested in getting to know it one iota). They were even coaxed as far as to appear on stage, although preferred to chat to eachother rather than dance (again to music they clearly didn't know).

Anyway, we had a great night. Really enjoyed the show and the madness of it all only added to the occasion. Certainly a one off experience that we won't forget in a hurry. If you get the chance to see Don't Think go for it - an on the evidence of last night, I'd get in a few drinks (and anything else that takes your fancy).

Oh, and I'd just like to add that everyone had their phones and cameras out and taking pictures, I was not alone. I'm sure I saw some videos being shot too - maybe a little YouTube search might be in order...
