Bubbles!?

Colder than a cold thing today.

Not actually that much 'pretty' frost around; air's too dry I guess.

Pond thick in ice, freezing these bizarre vertical streams of bubbles. Anyone understand the mechanism causing this?


No snow here, yet. Something had better justify cancelling the trip up north and replacing it with a pile of round-to-it paperwork.

Going to a concert this evening: City of London Sinfonia performance entitled "Scott of the Antarctic", so the icy picture choice seems appropriate.
