Saturday Morning

It was lovely to walk out this morning, buy a paper and have a coffee around the block. The sun was warm and there was a welcome breeze coming in the open front of the 'lanche' where I sat.

The only cloud on the horizon was the headline in the paper which announced a wave of death and looting in the city of Salvador in Bahia where the police are on strike. In the space of 7 hours, 24 people were killed and many shops stripped of their contents. The death rate was 5 more than the previous 'normal' Friday. Some armed, striking police men were still out on the streets hijacking buses to make barricades in support of their (illegal) protest; most diligent of them.
