According to the information board that you can just see through the arch Pull's Ferry:
"Now a private house, the watergate at Pull's Ferry was once the home of the ferryman after whom it is named - John Pull. The arched watergate was built in medieval times but the adjoining house is of a later date.
The original purpose of the watergate was as the entrance to the canal where stone to build Norwich Cathedral was brought in."
