Shells at Cama Beach

Glorious sunshine and not a cloud in the sky meant it was a perfect day for a trip to Cama Beach on the southwest shore of Camano Island, about 60 miles north of Seattle. Beginning in the mid-thirties a family resort and fishing camp was in operation at this location. Long before that, the beach was a favorite meeting ground for Native Americans. In 1998 the land was acquired by Washington State Parks in partnership with the Seattle-based Center for Wooden Boats. In 2008, after extensive renovations, the park was officially opened to the public. Today families can again walk the beaches, rent boats, picnic or stay in one of the refurbished waterfront cabins.
