Motor Blur
I am told this is a very basic motor. A strong magnet with a AA battery, and a piece of twisted metal. When connected the metal spins rounds. Highly inefficient, it drains the battery in a minute or two.
#2 has been refining his design, and suggested it would make a good motion blur Blip. So we set up the tripod, and I used my macro lens. I like the effect at the top, it looks like smoke or a force field.
Rather appropriate to record one of his fun lab projects, as today he received an award from the University for his work during First Year.
I've been improving my scientific knowledge today, not only learning some physics here, but also a wee bit about the chemistry of dyes used in tweeds.
