Back at the Rim

Update on the ferocious salamander: those are his gills you see around his neck there; they're leaving his body to make room for his developing lungs!
Now for THIS picture. We went back to the Rim today to collect bluebunch wheatgrass... except they were all empty! Hardly any seed at all! Crestfallen, we returned to the office only to find an email from an herbarium with GPS coordinates and directions to several known Ribes inerme locations, the white-stem gooseberry we've been looking for.
What you see here is lots of Juniper trees (yes, the same Juniper whose fleshy cones are used to flavor gin)
