Water Lily

Someone once told me not to shoot down on flowers because that's how we typically see flowers. He suggested that I take a photo of a flower from the side capturing the flower itself and its stem. Another suggestion he made was to shoot up from the flower bed up to the flower to give an illusion of a giant flower blooming towards the sky so high.

I guess that wasn't an absolute rule to be followed since this photo turned out awesome for my liking. It may look flat and lacks depth but I like how the purple water lily flower complimented the green color of the leaf behind it. It's also off-center so it doesn't seem boring and allows the viewer to wander around the frame.
