M for coffee

I'm not quite sure what this is all about, but Mrs T has got the kitchen table covered in art paper, paint, a craft knife or two and photographs of the house. There's a strong smell of white spirit and this coffee cup contains not only coffee but little wooden tags printed with letters. What's going on?
