I Love Chagall

Second only to my Iphone addiction to Blipfoto is my addiction to Christie's Auction House on the Iphone app. On the app some of the sales you can browse are antiques, fine art or furniture and the decorative arts. Not that I have any thought, money or hope of ever buying any of the lots but it is great for looking at. There are many lesser artworks by the great artists, there might be drawings, prints or paintings that you would never normally see. I have discovered that Francis Picabia was a wonderful draughtsman and that Van Gogh was a master at drawing pollarded trees.
Quite often there are paintings by Marc Chagall. I think he is great, although sometimes I can't figure out why I like his art so much, as his figures can be wishy washy and have awkward limbs which I wouldn't normally go for.
Whatever it is though, his paintings just move me. Ethereal is the word I think. Although it might just be because a lot of them are blue, which is my favourite (and the best ever) colour.
