Everything else about today pales into insignificance compared to the last two hours or so of it.
The day began chillily, with frost on the top of the car for the first time this year, but that cleared quickly, the sky was clear all day, and the sun shone without ceasing. I pottered around the house during the morning and went out around 3:00 pm, anxious to do a bit of walking and to get a few just-in-case blips safely in the can. That was pleasant enough, but ...
... the undisputed highlight of the day was meeting Raheny_Eye in town for a few drinks tonight. We met in Mulligan's, a good old-fashioned Dublin pub. We had a grand old confab, and then all too quickly it was time for me to catch my bus and for r_e to DART southward.
We were tucked away in a corner at a table by ourselves, which allowed us to observe the other clientele. These three lads were making enough noise for an army, deeply engrossed in conversation between well-wrapped-up trips out into the cold night air for smoking breaks. r_e got his own brilliant take on this scene. This is mine, a pale reflection by comparison, but a helpful visual memory nonetheless of an evening to remember.
