So it took them ages, but here are the finished steps. Roofed over and neatened up and escalators rolling.

I felt sorry for the shop keepers who have had their trade interrupted during the refurbishment. But they have done a nice job of the shop fronts too.

And it will be so much easier for those with heavy bags or a sore knee to get up to Princes Street and the buses.

So hooray for Waverley Steps, the top of which is reputed to be the windiestt place in the city.
