Your blip for today

Picture of a sign in Preston. I've been trying to think why this annoys me so much - it's not the trees, it's the patronising tone of the message, I think. "We'll be back to plant some more", they say, as if to a child.

Have you noticed that signs like these are becoming more infantilised? It's similar to the use of the word 'your' - e.g. 'your drinking water', 'your bus service'... feels like a clumsy attempt to promote 'our' sense of stakeholding in things which, actually, 'we' have little or no control over. These things are only 'ours' when it suits...

So, anyway - ANGRY! Song for the day - The Who (again) - 'Behind Blue Eyes'.

"When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool "
