Victory is Ours!
'Victory is mine ours, victory is mine ours, today I we drink from the keg of glory! Bring me us the finest bagels and muffins in the land!
For the first time in a while I was on the winning team at the Empress tonight, it was a great evening and made even better (and sorry to my regulars there) by the fact it was a bit of a rag-tag team. Only Zara from my usual group could make it, so I got in touch with my friend Rachel who usually goes with her own team to see if they had some spaces - luckily there were two - and with her friends Lee and Neil we barnstormed out way to victory tonight!*
However though, there was one question on the table round that we did not get (on this side at least - film quotes on the other and we got them pretty much dead on). The middle one... I set it as a challenge for Blippers and anyone on BookFace alike... tonight's quizzers need not answer! In case you can't read it, there's a row of three 'This's over a block of four 'Sigh's. As a helpful clue, "three" does not feature in the common phrase that's the answer.
The other answers on the page above are:
People - Michelle Pffeifer (in Stardust), Daniel Craig (highlighting inequality on International Women's Day), Eric Cantona (I think in a Nike advert?) and Roger Taylor in the classic video for 'I want to Break Free'.
Puzzles I & III - 'A Tale of Two Cities' and 'Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder' (beauty is written in the I in Hive - a bee-holder)
Films - 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers', 'The Great Escape', 'The Shining'
In any case, £18 the better and thoroughly chuffed with the way me Tuesday has ended (deadline day at work, being the end of the month, did not help the rest of it) I'm now chilling out with a glass of water and a viewing of 'The Guard' - a very fine comedy that everyone should take a look at.
*apparently though, as it turns out, none of my flm knowledge was needed as we'd already won by the film round!
PS: the quote above is initially from Josh Lyman in the West Wing, but pluralised for the team!
