As Mr. Dawes Sr, Chairman of the Dawes Tomes Mousley Grubbs Fidelity Fiduciary Bank once said - you can invest your money in railways, steam ships, tea and options but spend it on bird seed and what have you got?

Fat pigeons!

It was ages before I realised that the character of Mr Dawes Snr in the film Mary Poppins was actually played by Dick Van Dyke. The credits, if I'd stopped to read them named the actor as 'Navckid Keyd' - not a common name I'll admit, but is an anagram of Dick Van Dyke.

My excuse - I was seven when I saw it for the first time!

This pigeon has just hoovered up all the seed that was meant for the Robin, Wren and Dunnocks - the last of which we seem to have more than our fair share:)
