Heart of a Lily

Some people dislike lilies - they associate them with funerals. I wasn't allowed to have them in my wedding flowers.

To have them in the house in winter reminds me of hot summer nights when the lilies are in bloom outside. You have to take care with the pollen, its poisonous to cats and stains anything it comes in contact with - it takes the bleaching power of full noon day summer sun to remove the yellow reminder of lily pollen.
