Not every day

Serenity

Drawn from my desk by the winter afternoon sun for a stroll along the 'Lankie' (Lancaster to Preston canal), I met these two who seemed to assume I had something to give them (or tell them?) and so came close enough for a macro.

The canal is very peaceful, especially at this southern end. Opened in 1797, it closed to commercial traffic 150 years later. The connection to the Leeds and Liverpool at Wigan was never built, except for a tram link which is long gone. People often suggest that canals may be due for a commercial revival. I doubt the swans would approve, though.
