I left the office with a colleague. We were so busy chatting about our evening plans that I didn't notice the chaotic scene on the road. I was going to catch the bus to a friend's house for dinner but when I saw the traffic, I decided to take the tube instead. I turned left and then noticed the crowds. Then I heard the loud sirens. And then I saw the smoke. And then the flames in the distance.

I hesitated. The tube stop I wanted was in the direction of the fire, and I wasn't sure it was a good idea to head towards danger. I crossed the road, hoping it was a fair distance away. As I walked passed, luckily the firemen had put out the fire in a white van. Smoke filled the air.
