Bird's eye view

Back to Roger's homeland - the island of Guernsey - for the first time in twenty years! Since all Roger's close family is now in England we dont usually include Guernsey in our UK trips - we'd love to, but its extra expense and there just isnt time to do everything. However, since originally we'd thought we would have the whole family with us this time, for the first time in a number of years and no doubt the last for the foreseeable future, we decided this was the year to do it, despite the lousy exchange rate!
We flew from Manchester and arrived Guernsey early afternoon. Some of Rogers memories of the roads and lanes had become rather rusty, so he'd checked out Google maps and talked with his father, and he found his way without problem to our hotel in the south east of the island, close to the cliffs, we could see the sea from our bedroom window.
We just checked in and then went to a family reunion. It was a bit bewildering, especially for the kids - all these people they'd never met, (or not seen since they were small), even one or two Roger hadnt met. But it was a great time, and I managed to sort most people out by the end of the evening!
