Kandyan Dancer

This flower (a type of Orchid) is nicknamed the Kandyan Dancer as it resembles the uniform worn by performers of the Kandyan Dance; a dance form that originated from the city of Kandy.

The typical kandyan dancer wears an elaborate head dress, sparkling adornments for ears neck and arms and breast plates glistening with shiny bead and frilled cloth. These are all typified in the Kandyan Dancer Orchid.
