End of an Era
On my way to work this morning was surprised to see the Tuxedo Princess finally on it's way down the Tyne.
For those of you who don't know, for many years this ship has been parked up by the Tyne Bridge and has served as a nightclub, supplying entertainment for many a stag or hen do. It has a revolving dance floor, extremely sticky carpet and dubious reputation, but most of us geordies have enjoyed a dodgy night out there at some time or other (last one for us lot being its farewell night back in January).
The move has been on the cards for ages, ready to make way for more offices/apartments/hotels/whatever being built on the quayside, but I didn't actually realise it was set for this morning.
So I jumped out the car to blip it, unfortunately not quite in time to catch it passing under the Millenium Bridge (tilted in the background). And I (as I'm sure many of the watching crowd did) was filled with sentimental memories of silly nights and good laughs as I watched it sail away. It's off to Greece apparently, to be a nightclub once more. If I'm ever in the vicinity, I'll give it a miss though!
