Stewartby Lake
A beautifully carved log, pretty sure the other side is a seat but can't remember now (even though I only visited it at 9am this morning!)
The lake was once a clay pit from which bricks were made in the 1930's, I believe. The brickworks have completely closed down in recent years and now only four chimneys remain. I don't know how many there were originally but there were still several when I was a child in the 80's and used to walk round the lake with my family.
The lake is now incorporated into the Marston Vale Millennium Country Park. Tree planting has been going on for some years now and I look forward to seeing the mature trees in my dotage.
