Slieve Maan

When I got out to the local hills yesterday I was surprised to find a light dusting of snow on them so today I ventured a little further, in among the highest mountains in the county. This one, Slieve Maan is one of the bigger ones and a favourite route for bicycle races. A really tough hard climb.

The snow out here is much thicker than nearer home and would make climbing quite difficult. There's bound to be lots of hard frozen ice up there and yet down here nearer to sea level we haven't even had a single snowflake.
