Boomtown China

Nikon, Nikon, Nikon!

One of my photos published in two Japanese magazines for the Japanese communities in Southern China & Hong Kong. This one is from Crossroad January 2012.

I was one of several people taking pictures when suddenly shouts from the crowd of "Nikon,Nikon Nikon!" Rang out. Even a reporter with a Canon was obliged to make way for The Nikon. (Sorry Canon users)

The picture is participants who took part in the Japan Chamber of Commerce Tennis Tournament held at Mission Hills Golf & Country Club December 11th's blip.

The "Ni' in Nikon comes from Nippon. Nippon means Japan and and the ikon in Nikon come form the German lenses "Ikon' To make Nikon.

For North Americans. British pronunciation follows exactly the same pronunciation as Japanese. Therefore, pronounced Ni as in "Nick' not Ny as in Nylon. Just so as you now what they were chanting :- )
