Life through the lens...

By ValC

When I'm 84!

A very good turn out for our Thursday walk today. (24)
May be it was because the weather was fine and mostly sunny, after a dull and rainy week.(or could have been the pub lunch afterwards!)

It was only a short walk from Harrogate up through Birk Woods, Harlow woods and back.
Very muddy after all the rain but plenty of water in the beck.
In the woods there are a few mighty oaks struggling against ground erosion as their east facing side lose out to the crumbling bank of Birk Beck.

I wanted to show this photo as the lady on the left of the photo is Betty.(on the wooden walk way) An inspiration to us all. 84 years old, lives on her own, and still lives life to the full!!
Yesterday was at her Yoga class in the morning, lunch with a friend, and then a concert a Leeds Music School in the afternoon.........Then out walking with us today!
Just hope I am as active, in both mind and body when I am that age!!!wish I were now

The only down side to today was the pub lunch. AWFUL is too good a word, and the place was packed! Mind you the advert outside was "Lunch £4.95" Actually the only course at that price was Scampi.
I chose Scotish venison and merlot pie! The worst food I have tasted in years!!
Husbands steak and ale pie wasn't any better.
Not sure what Betty had but even she complained!
Needless to say we won't be going there again!

Apart from that a good day out!
