Red Kite in a tree
This picture represents the ultimate frustration in wildlife photography. I happened to spot a large bird in this dead tree from quite a long way away. I carefully took a few shots at the full extent of my zoom and then crept forwards. Before I had chance to get very far (or put the camera on burst mode), a van came up behind me on the narrow lane and scared the kite off. It was the only vehicle that passed me on my half hour walk. At least it is just recognisable as a kite - I've only ever seen them on the wing before.
Anybody know if they have favourite perches? If so, I might take a closer look up in the tree next time I do this route!
