Waterfoot Sunrise

Grogport

A somewhat less than inspiring day for blipping as the weather closed in shortly after dawn. This was despite Mrs B waking me up to tell me there might be a good sunrise shortly. Now if one thing is guaranteed to get me out of bed quick it is the thought of capturing that elusive perfect sunrise.

Sure enough there were a few breaks in the clouds, which were moving eastwards rapidly with the strong westerly wind. However, by the time I was showered and changed most of the breaks had closed and the chances of a good sunrise were disappearing fast. I did go out to my usual haunts and took a few blips of the what colours appeared, but they were all rather disappointing.

By lunchtime a southerly gale was raging and the rain was heavy. We left shortly afterwards for Renfrew where we have some fence repairs to do tomorrow. Without a blip in the camera, we stopped at Grogport, a small hamlet 10 minutes north of Carradale, to get a shot of the sea breaking on the shoreline at high tide. In the nineteenth century there were many illicit stills in Kintyre and the whisky they produced was smuggled to the Ayrshire coast via Grogport - hence its name!

On reviewing the shots I decided, as there was so little colour about, today's blip looked better in black and white.
