THE BRILLIANCE OF HIS SPECULUM
Today's date with the Professor involved a brisk walk along the south shore of Loch Venacher and on to a delicious lunch by the wood burning stove at the Boat House. Not a day for landscape photography, so I carried on working on filming birds in flight (well sitting ducks are so easy). I haven't quite grasped the settings yet. A faster shutter speed appears to slow down the autofocus, leading to this slightly fussy image of a male mallard. However, I do like his outspread wings, his shadow on the waves and the brilliance of his speculum. OH, dear, I should not have said that, now the Professor will want me to talk about the brilliance of his speculum...
So I liked the mallards, but I also liked our walk; the moss and the lichen in the forest; the lapping of the loch; the tissue paper mist on the hills, the creamy Cullen Skink and the Cranochan and oatcakes. Well it's Burn's night, after all.
