Mansefield Memories

Family Heirloom

This is my Edinburgh New Town miniature house.
This is the home of Sir Fergus and Lady Jean McLeod and their family.
I have tried to keep it to the ninteenth century Georgian style when the New Town was built.
In the basement there is the Kitchen and little yard just below the Dining Room on the ground floor. On the first floor is the Salon for entertaining, up on the second floor are the bedrooms with the nursery in the attic.
There was no bathroom but hot water was brought upstairs by the maid for the basin and chamberpots would be removed by her in the mornings.
The lamps at the door are very typical of the New Town. They contained a metal horn for extinguishing the lamp boys torch when he showed you the way to the house.
