air travel
It's been one of those long ass days. Up before 5 am Tel Aviv time. It's now almost 1 am EST. With the 7 hour time difference that's a 27 hour day.
I'm pissing caffeine and drinking an amber lager to unwind.
We are now safely back across "the pond" as my fellow blippers like to call it.
Had a brief layover in Frankfurt so I had to drink a beer to Scintilla while sitting in the boarding area.
Watched a lousy movie or two on a crappy video screen and acted suitably entertained by the dollop and dash of food provided. Never cursed nor uttered any epithets in anger. Avoided confrontations and conflict.
Spent much time wondering why the rest of my species pulls down all the window shades and dithers with electronic media when they could be staring out on the firmament at 38,000 feet. I was not assigned a window seat but did have an unimpeded pathway to the "head". I also questioned the sanity of any one joining the "mile high club" in said head. Maybe in a private Leer jet on a water bed but certainly not in the loo, especially that one.
Learned several valuable lessons on this trip:
1) lack of language skills can be an asset not a hindrance when traveling.
2) money talks, but the US Dollar sucks.
3) always smile when approaching security personel especially when they are carrying automatic weapons.
4) when boarding an international flight from Israel make certain your teenage son has not placed expended high powered rifle cartridges in his carry on luggage. The X-ray personel told me they look just like live rounds on the scanner.
Anyway we are home safe. The dogs and cats are fine, the house is in good repair. The lawn needs a mow.
APB: Mr snake has escaped it's cage and is on the loose.
The weather here is exceptionally beautiful.
