David Hume's toe

Another trip to Edinburgh today, to see the Turner watercolours at the National Gallery of Scotland. Some of the later ones are like miniature versions of his classic paintings; the earlier ones show how his interest and style developed. Turner is my favourite artist by far.

We'd were just finishing lunch here when the fire alarm when off, so we walked up the hill from the National Gallery to the National Museum. The highlight for me was the Admiral Cochrane exhibition. I've read all Patrick O'Brian's books and he based some of his stories on events in Cochrane's life.

There are good photos to be taken in the museum, but my blip for today is this statue on the Royal Mile of David Hume. Apparently philosophy students rub the toe for luck before exams. Personally, I think it should be an automatic fail if caught doing it! He's been blipped before, notably by MinBannister.
