Lazy Nerd Day
Who watches the History Channel voluntarily? I DO!!!
Who loves Star Wars a whole lot? I DO!!!
What happens when the History Channel does a 2-hour Star Wars special called 'Behind the Legacy'?
I WATCH!!!
2 hours of interviews and film clips about Star Wars and it's potential origins/influences. The only person they didn't interview? George Lucas. Seems everyone else made an appearance, though. J.J.Abrams, Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith, Dan Rather, Newt Gingerich, Nancy Pilosi, and scores of college professors.
I would have been very interested to hear what good old George had to say. He did invent the series, afterall.
A little too-Nazi-leaning for my taste (most of the empire colors, marching styles, even shape of Vader's helmet were likened to the Hitler regime). I, personally, am of the opinion that the colors are battle colors (black versus white and red to represent the blood), the marching styles (ranks) are efficient and from armies long before the Nazi regime, and that the shape of Vader's helmet instead is a throwback to samurai warrior helmets.
But what do I know?
This is a shot of Han Solo being likened to Gary Cooper in High Noon, the lone cowboy.
