The Nineteen Arches at Night
A very long time ago I posted a daytime shot of this bridge, viewed from the far side. This is the longest arched river bridge in Ireland and spans the river as it approaches the sea in Arklow. We are looking to the North here and it is said that there are still people living over there who have never crossed to the Southern side and vice versa. I doubt if there is any truth in that today but certainly it would have been the case 100 years ago.
One more shot entitled "The Night Shift" is in my Blipfolio if you are interested. It was a contender but I liked this one better.
This was shot shortly after midnight as I returned frommy friend and his errant laptop. I took the machine home here yesterday and using our broadband connection, updated Windows in an hour or so. Unfortunately, whatever way he has things set up, I couldn't update Norton's Anti Virus for him. Internet Explorer which is absolutely neccessary for this task was locked out on me and try as I might I couldn't get it to speak to our broadband. So at 8pm I took it back to him and hooked it up yo his stone age dial up system. Downloaded the programme and began installing it. Painfully slow. Ice melts faster in Greenland! When I returned at 11.30pm it had reached the 26% mark and was telling us it needed another 13 hours!! We suspended the job and he can continue it whenever he has the time. It was on the way home that I did my blip. Grrrrrrr!
