Rusted Mirror

I wonder how is it possible for a mirror to gather rust. One would say - It's a Ford.

I used to have a Ford Transit and it had huge problems with rust. Every year I had to repair some parts of the body for yearly vehicle inspection. Finnish weather is a real test for car 's rustproof. Best solution would be not to have a car and use a bus or a bike.
