This is what happens when you ignore a leak!
Well today we got a lot further in our rebuild of the front of the house.
We knew the wall and window surround was rotten but today we took the vinyl off the front of the house to see the horror in daylight. This is the good side.
First job of the day was butting up the roof to take the load, then a new soul board across the bottom of the wall on top of our renewed joists and main beam. Then the fun bit of removing the rotten window frame and the rotten cripples and studs. By mid afternoon we had a hole in the front of the house, but a couple of hours later we had all the new stud work in place.
Tomorrow we'll be installing the windows, weather proofing the front, putting new panels on the front, and some other stuff I'm sure I've forgotten.
I still cannot believe how bad the previous owners let this rot problem get. There are obvious attempts at repairs, and there is no way that no one knew that this was a huge problem that needed dealing with. I can only assume that they didn't have the money to sort it out.
