Vive la Vie

21 Months

For anyone without children, or in fact, even those with children, please don't feel the need to read on as this is one of those blip updates for my own personal records! Very dull for anyone else.

My gorgeous little boy is one and three quarters today. I wanted to get a photo of him in his pyjamas as I think he looks like a proper little boy now. He has always slept in onesies but recently he has become more and more difficult to dress. A friend suggested getting him some character pyjamas to entice him to get ready for bed and it has been a huge success! He sits and studies the pyjamas pointing out George Pig, oinking away!

He still has very limited vocabulary and has several favourite words which are:
Ank-u (thank you)
More
Agaire (again)
Car
Bye ba
Papa
Mammy
Libba (Olivia)

He nods vigorously to show his understanding and seems to understand instructions in both English and French. We're not worried about his lack of vocab as we've spoken to a number of bilingual specialists recently and he seems to be very normal for this stage.

For the last 8 days he hasn't cried when he's been left at the creche - it's only taken 6 months! He now sleeps in a little bed at the creche rather than in a cot, which at first I was quite anxious about (as we're no where near that stage at home with him) but apparently he seems to enjoy it. They've also got him down to one sleep a day which again we don't seem to be able to do, as at weekends he has two good sleeps during the day. Believe me this boy hated sleeping for the first year of his life, but now he loves it!

He loves, loves, loves cars and trains and wheels, and still likes to have one in each hand when he goes to bed at night.

He is a very fussy eater and seems to go for days without eating much, but then he will surprise you and eat two plates of fish, rice and vegetables - but only at the creche, and not with the other children, as apparently he likes to eat on his own at the moment!

He has got some fab dance move, a brilliant pout and has developed a keen interest of trying to stand on his head! Weird, but so utterly gorgeous, affectionate and fun.
Love you D, x

Edit
A day after this blip entry D started saying 'oui' in response to questions. We think it may be to do with the fact that when children are faced with two languages they'll say the word that is the easiest and 'oui' is easier to say than 'yes'.
