Trees against the light

We went up to the bike cafe at Glentress today (thus replacing some of calories burnt off this morning in my first visit to the local gym). There were a lot of very muddy people in the cafe, having collected a modest amount of the countryside on their clothes and person while enjoying the mountain bike trails.

Glentress is where I first properly rode a mountain bike off-road; the Saracen Eiger that I got for my 40th birthday. There were no proper mountain bike trails at Glentress then, and nor did I have the luxury of clipless pedals, which meant that falling almost certainly meant having your feet firmly strapped in. Not much fun.

As we walked up the hill behind the cafe, these trees were silhouetted against the distant sky.
