Thing

Not sure what this is, but it is in Chester-le-Street Riverside Park. It i situated in a landscaped garden near some bowling greens.

There used to be tennis courts on this spot, and an old bowling pavilion. £1:50 for an hours court time, it was magnificent and always full.... that was 1992, roll on to 1996, and the riverside complex, home of the Emirates ICG (Riverside) was built, with a new set of synthetic courts. the new spot suffered from terrible crosswinds, and were pretty useless..... they are now never used and in disrepair, and thus ended my tennis playing youth.

I have no idea how that was inspired by a pineapple shaped thing, but there we go.
